As my mother says, in St. Louis, there are only two seasons - winter and road construction! Sadly, she's mostly right. This year, we've had a bad winter - then some summer - then some fall - then more summer - now we have Spring. All in a matter of weeks. Amidst the tornadoes and torrential rain, there have been days of amazing beauty, sunny and inviting. I've walked through most of it - albeit at the mall.
I have another linedancing crew, this time on Thursday evenings. This group calls their dances 'slides' and it's mostly soul music. Easier than the group I had been going to and a better work out as the teacher keeps us moving for the full 90 minutes. No complaints about that!
As Kathy has commented, this Spring - if we dare call it such - has been especially bad for allergies. Walking has a very positive effect on the immune system and keeps most of the bad allergic reactions at bay for me. When I don't walk, I invite my immune system to be lazy and stop protecting me from all that dreadful pollen.
So, tomorrow (a Thursday), I walk with my friend Sally in the morning for about 3 miles then dance for 90 minutes from 6-7:30 PM. Whew! That's a fun day for me. Makes for a good night's sleep.
